Adonis Fry

I'm pretty happy with how this came out. It's just a silly painting based off a silly accident. I had started drawing Fry in my sketchbook but wasn't liking how the picture was coming out so I erased it. I then went to a figure drawing meeting and reused the page in a study of arms. It wasn't until after I filled the page that I noticed that the faint leftover lines of Fry's head fit well in place with a couple of the arms I drew from different poses. Maybe it was my subconscious at work, but I thought the pose was funny and Fry looked really pleased with himself.

I just didn't want to tell him he has a woman's arms cleverly painted over to look a little more manly. I added all the rest to make it look like a cheesy 80's portrait.

A Bleak Future

Well, for this topic I suppose I cheated because Futurama technically premiered in 1999. I couldn't really think of another cartoon I cared to draw. I figured I might be the only one doing an art piece about Futurama anyway.

I was inspired by this poster: http://screenrant.com/poster-friday-star-trek-avatar-the-road-wolfman-rob-36473/ though mine doesn't look so much like it as it does a Japanese propaganda poster. I like it for it though. I thought it would be fun to put some sort of tagline on it to look more like a poster, but I couldn't really think of anything that wouldn't be distracting.

I have to admit I pretty much made it up as I went along so its kind of haphazard but I'm happy with the colors and the mood. I drew a rough drawing on paper and did the rest in photoshop.

"Where will you be when your powers kick in?"

Here is my submission for the topic "Everything I Touch Turns to Gold". Simply put, a cowboy learns about the obvious problems that come with the Midas Touch. It was drawn roughly on paper and cleaned and colored in PS. I'm planning another submission for this topic as well, and now I of course have to do it.

Intro/Abduction

I was watching The X-Files the other day and was feeling inspired. I thought I liked the idea of an alien introducing itself to fit the theme rather a painting introducing myself... though I do enjoy Sci-Fi....

I was aiming to create a kind of eerie, unearthly glow using a greenish-blue color pallet and the outer glow effect for certain parts of the painting. They are classic alien visuals but I always liked these creepy scenes in The X-Files the best, so I wanted to paint it. Its probably not as haunting as the show but I believe I succeeded in capturing the moment.

Whats important to me is I tried some new things in Photoshop and I'm pretty happy with the result.
