A Bleak Future

Well, for this topic I suppose I cheated because Futurama technically premiered in 1999. I couldn't really think of another cartoon I cared to draw. I figured I might be the only one doing an art piece about Futurama anyway.

I was inspired by this poster: http://screenrant.com/poster-friday-star-trek-avatar-the-road-wolfman-rob-36473/ though mine doesn't look so much like it as it does a Japanese propaganda poster. I like it for it though. I thought it would be fun to put some sort of tagline on it to look more like a poster, but I couldn't really think of anything that wouldn't be distracting.

I have to admit I pretty much made it up as I went along so its kind of haphazard but I'm happy with the colors and the mood. I drew a rough drawing on paper and did the rest in photoshop.

I thought the URL would be a link in the description but I guess not

Really awesome piece, love it! Especially that red sky, it'd be weird if half of it was blue...

Blue? You talk crazy

NICE colours! I kind of wonder how it would have turned out if you'd kept the weird (in a good way) blue shadows on Fry, but it looks awesome and dramatic anyway. The cloud overlay is a great effect.

I love everything about this and, since it was my suggestion, I totally accept this as a 90's cartoon piece. The background is awesome and Bender and Fry's faces are priceless. I also really like the head tank inside Bender, good job on showing motion through the water. Overall, thumbs up :D

Thank you all. Yeah, I painted the clouds using a brush I hadn't used before to give it that kind of rough edge painting look.
