COWABUNGA, muthaf*ers

I am insanely proud of this.

After uploading three digital (well, okay, one of them a sketchbook drawing digitally coloured) pieces for the past three topics, I wanted to go the traditional route this time around for a change of pace. I decided the Turtles are pretty much the definition of cartoon nostalgia for me, and I had a piece of cardboard I'd been saving for a special occasion, so I went to town on it. I was going for a graphic look with this that I think goes with the boys' New York street background, and the style I drew them in is kind of a combination of some of their various incarnations (old show, new show, new CG models) plus a little of my own. Sketched in pencil, inked with a black sharpie, highlighted with white gel pen, touched up with prismacolor pencil, and then added the background tone effect with copic marker. The overall colours in this are kind of weird and blocky because I had to scan it in parts and piece it together in Photoshop. Kind of an experiment, and I think a successful one. I will DEFINITELY be drawing on cardboard more often.

TURTLE POWER. \m/
